FF1+2 or FFO?

FF1+2 looks like a pretty sweet game, but I’ve heard a few things against it.

One one hand, FF1+2 has bonus features (like extra dungeons) and is portable. It also has some reworked systems, which could be for better or worse, depending on your preferance. And they kept “I, Garland, will knock you all down”, so there’s a point in their favor.

On the other hand, FFO is a lot more true to the original. And I’m told FF1+2 only has one difficulty level, and it’s quite easy.

So what do you all think? Which of the two games do you prefer, and why?

By FF1+2 do you mean Dawn of Souls?

I’d also like this question answering, since I need a good FF RPG for my new GBA SP.

FFO, because I’ve already had it over a year. :-p

I got Dawn of Souls yesterday and it looks nice. I only played FF1 and yes, it is easier in almost every aspect and a great part of the dialogue is different (For example, they paraphrased the prophecy a little, which many consider a sacrilege) but overall it’s good enough to be enjoyable. And frankly one of the few reasons for which I played this game was to listen to Garland say “I, Garland, will knock you all down!” so I’m happy.

And even though I know that graphics don’t make the game and all that jazz, the new look is pretty sweet.

Oh, forgot to mention: I have FFO, but I can get a pretty much even trade with it if I buy FF1+2 used.

Well i plan on buying dawn of Souls, much easier to find then FFO and cheaper too most likely. I wouldn’t mind it being a bit easier, and by the looks of things Dawn of Souls graphics are very nice as well. And I usually pick the portable games over the console games. Portability is just nice.

Dawn of Souls is awesome, although it is very easy. Im only 14 or so hours into the game and I’ve already beaten all the fiends, and I’m in the hellfire chasm now. I really like the bonus dungeons though, I think it’s really cool how they put in bosses from the other games in. I haven’t played FF2 yet, I’m gonna get to that after I’m finished with FF1.

I believe they put bosses from FF3j in the bonus dungeons.

I’ve got FFO… and I still need to finish the FF2 game I started last summer.

What he said. Also I dont like the idea of an easier FF1. I want the hard long boring FF1 that took me over 10 years to finish.

I say FFO as well, while I’d love to play a portable FF that was good… I simply dont want an “easy” rendition of anything I’ve done before. I had the same disapointment with Lunar Legend. FF1 remains one of the more trying games in my FF collection, more difficult to complete and grueling as well, thus I’d like to keep that aspect of it.
But of course, keeping a game because its HARDER isnt a very great reason, so I’d really want to see more of DoS before passing my final judgement. So in the end, why not just keep Origins if you can, and get DoS used to try it out?

Since I rarely play on my PS2 with sound on, but I have Head phones almost always in my GBA. Isn’t the GBA music “Emulating” the PS1 version music, with GBA’s Limited Syntherizer? (I have a GBA not GBA-SP)

Big Nutter
Here Lies Link!

Not many people seem to know that the FF I and II remakes are originally for the Wonderswan handeld. So the music is emulating that. Thus it’s a re-re-remake. Or a Port of a port of a remake. Either way it was a pretty pointless thing to do. Especially since the PSone is now less than a GBA, and the original FFO is less than the GBA one. Only thing is you can carry it around. Wooptie shit.

I say FFO, although I must admit, FFDoS almost got me, just because of ‘I Garland…’.
However, I realized I would just mooch of friend’s boyfriend and hear it on his copy rather than buying my own.

An easier FF1 would upset me. One of the thigns that makes it one of my favourites from the series is the difficulty.

I’m all for easier difficulty. “Difficult” is fine when it’s a la FF Tactics, where it meant you having to think your way through strategies. It’s not fine when it means “level up mindlessly for half an hour before you can beat the boss”.

I’ll say Dawn of Souls, because the extra stuff is actually SIGNIFICANT (unlike in FFO). The music in FFO is really, really, really, really awesome though.

Cidolfas makes a good point about difficulty too. A lot of people say that the 7th Saga is the most difficult RPG ever, but all it really meant is that people have to level up a lot to beat it. The original Final Fantasy can be extremely easy (if you level up a lot) or extremely difficult (if you don’t).

I’ll say go for DoS ! Trust me, it does worth the money ! The remake of FF1 is soooooooo cool ! On the other hand, FF2 ‘‘lvl-up’’ system is a bit hard I think. Not to mention these god forsaken monsters.

Speaking of leveling up, isn’t it crazy how you can break the level 50 barrier in Dawn of Souls? I was shocked when I got to level 51… now I’m at 64!

I’m at 78, I think it stops at lvl99 or who knows maybe 100 ? Bha, I say you don’t even need all those lvls to beat the hell out of the most toughest monsters like Omega and Shinryuu.

I would go for DoS. It’s portable.

I would agree with the Dawn of Souls, I have been playing it on and of due to the time constraints with work and school, but from what I see both games on it rock.
