Wasn’t Chargemagne El Piano Loco back then?
Well I guess today was the day for you guys.

And there was some douche named Megaman984. And another named RPGDragon. And Epicgamer.
MegamanX2 was always the better Megaman
Hence why I became the best The.
While both had their irritating moments, I felt that X1’s soundtrack was what made it the better one.
At least they’re both better than the MegaXmans that came after.
I personally like X2 better because I really loved how vibrant the colors were. The Ostrich level is a series stand out I think. When I was a kid I played Megaman on NES, I had played FF’s, Zelda, Mario… but MMX2 was like, the best looking game I had ever seen. I remember realizing that Megaman was breathing and was like whoa…
The first one I’ve actually played more of than the second one, not sure why. I know I actually owned that one, while merely renting the second. But they are definitely some of the better Megaman games. I actually really liked Megaman 8, but I think I’m in the minority (cool levels though! that clown one was great, and so was the one where you ski the whole time)
MM8 was a bit underrated I think, though unlike the others, I don’t think it has aged well. The style for the first 6 were so good and aged so well that when they made 9 and 10, they went back to that style and made two really good games.
Let’s be honest, though: The voice acting was the worst first impression I think I’ve ever seen. Although Heavy Rain’s opening didn’t do it any favors.
I think the best MM Classic game was 10, and the best MMX game was X8. Those were the last ones they made for both, so if they never make another one of either, I wouldn’t be sad at all.
Considering Capcom is ignoring Mega Man to such a degree that Inafune raised $4 million through Kickstarter for Mighty Number 9, I think we can say your wish has been granted.
I like how all our favorite memories of X were of the game but not the person.
Clearly you missed my first post, CH.
I didn’t really care for X8’s gimmick levels too much, you had one or two straight forward levels (even if one was basically a Ride Armor stage; though that just made it the best stage) then like two different Ride Chaser levels, one stealth level, one auto-scrolling level, one might as well be an auto-scrolling level, and one rehash of X4’s Cyber Peacock stage. Also, X’s X8 armor is by far the fugliest thing to come out of that series. That said, it was still the best X game since X4.
Best classic MM game would probably be 6. The Rush Adapters were the best power ups.
And with that said, I kinda wished Capcom had gotten around to making an MMX9 in the same spirit as MM9 was made in. Now though, the odds of that happening are in the negative percentile (since even if they did make one, it would be complete garbage).
I think he goes on the wall. Right next to Xelopheris, Setz, Uriel, Quina, that joe six pack guy, and that weird lady that hacked games and dressed like a flapper.
I FINISHED THE SHRINE YEARS AGO AND THEN IT GETS A STEAM VERSION? e-mail explodes
We really need to play Dragon’s Crown, y’know. Or Magicka.
- Hanging around in IRC during EU hours, playing Ragnarok Online, Shadows over Mystara, FFXI, yes…!
- Before Torrents, RapidShare, Direct Connect… There was… #rpgc and Fileservers. !get Final_Fantasy_Unlimited_05.avi and hope the connection doesn’t die during the night.
- I think I developed most of my artistic skills (not the theory, tho’) via Media Forum. I also have a gift with writing. That, or undiagnosed ADD.
- Galloway’s and Wilfredo’s comic antics got me to read a metric ton of vintage Marvel Comics, which in retrospect, aren’t as much cardboard cutouts of each other unlike DC in its early years
- Once upon a time, met IRL Trillian, showed her around town, got served with Mexican Hat Dance while sitting down in a park.
Recent history: Became Bachelor in Engineering while making sandwiches, for a while, made movies, but right now, I’m still making sandwiches. Might go for a Master’s Degree, considering a teacher’s career as well. Elementary or Highschool, but nothing in between, please. I mostly just hope to get to do something other than sandwiches. Lost 15kg/30lbs this year due to not wanting any, uh, standard of living ailnesses before turning 30 and actually being of (BMI’s, which is bull at times) ideal weight for the first time in like, 15-20 years.
Son I am down
MMX levels were all gimmicks since X5, though. X8 was just extremely forward about it. I could have done without two Ride Chaser levels, though. The ice one was extremely hard, and the other one was extremely easy. I mainly enjoyed the game balance; Axl felt markedly different from X (in X7, he was just “crappy X”), and they all had different speeds, strengths and weaknesses.
I think an X9 could be legit - X8 was good without any serious involvement from Inafune. If anything, I’m more concerned that Inafune can’t make an especially great game. MMZero were pretty good…the ZX games were just terrible. MM10 was my favorite classic game, but MM9 was far-and-away my LEAST favorite. I’ll be happy to try his new game, but I can’t say I’ve been impressed with his Mega Man-related work in the past decade or so.
X4 is still my favorite X game. And Mega Man 4 is still my favorite original series game.
Capcom’s problems go far, FAR beyond Inafune quitting. Whole teams have jumped ship, their plan to make DMC “Hip and cool” two decades after “Hip and cool” stopped being “Hip and cool” shockingly didn’t work, they are ass-deep in debt and it is frankly hilarious how uniform is the virulent hatred for the whored-out husk of a project that they dare call “Breath of Fire 6” among both the Japanese and Western audience.
X8 came out in 2008. This is not 2008 Capcom. This is a rotting corpse that is no longer even the main developer for their all-time cashcow franchise, since they subcontracted DIMPS to do Street Fighter for them.
