Evangelion

Ee-van-jell-ion?

Or

Ee-van-gehl-ion?

Some people pronounce the G as a “GEE” and others pronounce it as a “J”. How bout you guys?

“G” as it “good grief, Charlie Brown!” That’s how they say it in the series. I think. Been a while since I watched any of it.

I have a pronounciation question also.

Is it “Ah-nih-may Four-um” or “An-im-aye Fo-rum”?

[strike]There’s a thread somewhere on the polling/anime board on this topic.[/strike] CH wins by cleverness. Damn the chuh!

I say it ‘Ee-van-jell-ion’ and will do so until someone tracks down Hideaki Anno and asks him how to say it.

I made this thread before and didn’t come to any definate conclusions. Apparently it’s said one time in the series. Yes, I don’t know how to correctly pronounce my own screen name, but in my mind it’s “Ay-van-ghell-lee-in” and when people say “Eva” I would hear it as “Ev-vah”

But you’re weird. And probably wrong. ^.~

You’ve hurt my feelings Pierson. You’re no longer in my story.

edit: and I was commenting on how I heard it.

Evangelion is cool.

I say it: Even-gal-ion Nuff said.

I don’t pronounce it when I can avoid it.

I always pronounce it with a G. I just don’t think it sounds right with a J.

I pronounce it with a J 'cause evangelist is pronounced with a J. The first part of each word is spelled the same, so I pronounce it the same.

Yeah, but prounouncing it with a J makes it sound silly.

Eba!

I never say the anime either by my friend and I say:

Ev-inn-gail-ee-on

As for anime forum, I’d say:

An-i-may For-um, the “i” is a short sounding one (in other words, not “eye”)

エヴァンゲリオン

That’s the official katakana way to spell Evangelion. Found at this site: http://www.evangelion.co.jp/.

The romaaji for that would be e-va-n-ge-ri-o-n. It would sound like ay-van-gay-ree-on or ay-van-gay-lee-on, as L’s and R’s sound the same. I’d assume that’s the ‘official’ way to pronounce it.

As for me? I tend to say ee-van-gehl-ion. ::doh::

I pronounce it “Sh-it”
