Good lord. I just got back from my free prerelease of Equilibrium, and I have to admit, the movie is amazing. The fighting scenes are some of the best I’ve ever seen, and the whole concept of the movie was neat as well. Whoever played the main character (god, I am so bad with names) really put the part down masterfully. The scene where he gets touched by hearing Beethoven was incredibly well done. The one with the puppies was fun as well
Anyway, yeah, the movie rocks. If you haven’t seen it yet, go see it. Now.
Mankind has been taking a drug since the third world war, which represses all emotions, so there won’t be any new wars and stuff. Obviously, not all people want to give up their emotions. They get hunted down by Clerics, think martial artists with guns and swords, who are the elite of the elite. They also destroy all art and stuff so people won’t be tempted to feel. The top Cleric, the hero, forgets to take his daily dose of the drug. After that, he slowly starts to feel stuff, and decides to stop taking the drug. But his partners get suspicious of him. Insert loads of kickass fighting scenes.
You guys probably aren’t seeing anywhere because it came out a couple of months ago. In fact, Merl even posted about how good it was. I’ll see if I can pull up the IGN review of it (I believe they gave it a 5/5).
have no fear everyone, if you live in Canadia or the US you’ve probably already missed it theatre-wise (it came out in very limited release) but but BUT, it is coming out on DVD on May 13th, both at Blockbuster, Amazon, and I’m guessing most anywhere else. I have my copy preordered, but rest assured when it is released I’ll be plugging it on the boards yet again Here’s a brilliant review of the brilliant movie, oh, and the main character was Christian Bale TD. Other starring cast members were Taye Diggs, Sean Bean (Boromir), and Emily Watson (she was in Red Dragon and other stuff, a critic’s darling).
