Elfen Lied

I just finished watching it last ngiht, and I havent been able to get it out of my mind. This series was extremely intense, suspensful, heartwrenching, unpredictable, yet heartwarming and…cute…and funny at times. I’ve watched series that caused me to go through a laundry list of emotions…but not like this. For only 13 episodes the pacing was TIGHT! It didnt let up, and it didnt slow down for a minute. I was on the edge of my seat though most of the episodes. To top it off, the ending was very satisfying. This is probably the most violent I’ve ever seen, but without it, it sure wouldnt have impacted me on this level.

A truely brilliant, harrowing series. But not for the faint of heart. And not for animal lovers…

What was it about?

truyl truly i ask you what is it about…for i want to know…seriously tho

Diclonius are a further evolved species of humans, with those short horns protruding from their heads, and these telepathic arms called vectors, which they use to spread thier genes into the bodies of humans so that they may reproduce through them…when they’re not tearing them apart limb from limb.

The story focuses on 3 Diclonius-Lucy, the evil one who escapes from a containment facility, falls into the ocean, and develops a second personality-a cute Chi (chobits)-like girl who can only say “Nyu” and is nicknamed as such by the boy and girl that find her and take her in (it should be noted that it’s the time Lucy is “Nyu” and when she’s learning about the world around her, that the series takes an odd lighthearted tone, decidedly different from the morbid violent one that it begins with, one of the reasons why it’s so interesting)

Then there’s Nana, the diclonius sent to track her down, and “No. 35” who is sent to kill Lucy when Nana is unable to.

The opening is bizarre. Very bizarre, and very mornful. The opening theme “lilium” only accents this. You will want to cry before the first episode even starts.

Grrr… I demand more discussion abou this series

You want some discussion wait till I get the rest of the series? Once I obtain Ep5 I’ll have 1-7. So I’ll be able to watch most of it then I’ll give you more discussion than you can shake a stick at.

Saw the first ep only, waiting for direct links to the others. Freaky freaky series. I love it. Lucy is awesomeness incarnate.

Holy crap. I hafta say I’m enjoying it. Especially the clothes changing ordeal. :stuck_out_tongue:

Told ya.
Heh, yeah I forgot about that part. That was great.

Wait till you get to episode 8. Whoo boy.

I don’t have 8 yet, and I dont have 12 but I have all the rest. My only dislike is the whole Kouta+Yuka thing I mean Arent they cousins? I dont know how Japanese socieity works but I’m pretty sure that the same rules apply

Yes. That’s one of the many slightly-icky aspects of the series.

Love the second episode. <3 Lucy

So they are doing it like they do it down south? and it’s still wrong. gaycore.

edit: ok wtf. hey i could either go with my cousin or get it with a sexy cat-ish girl with powers of doom!

Yeah, that kinda confused me. Either they are cousins or it’s just a term of affection. Like when a girl refers to a crush as “Onii-sama/chan/san” which means brother.

Heh, I <3 Lucy. If ADV uses that as a title for one of the dvds, there will be hell to pay.

It’s an awesome series so far. I’m gonna hafta have my friend come watch it and see what he thinks

I made my mom watch it. I was curious, for whatever reason, to see what she though of it. She watched the whole thing in a day. My mom-who only has a mild passing interest in anime and would rather do anything else besides watch it, watched the whole thing in a day, in 3 sittings, to be exact. She’s like “Ugh… sigh one more… oh my god… one more… … just one more holy shit, I cant believe they blugeoned the dog to death… one more” Shocked the hell out of me.

Shit. I mean I figured they’d beat it a lil but to fuckin kill it. Damn I’da done just what she did cept maybe made them suffer a lil more.
