Election day poll

If Kerry doesn’t win, I will have lost faith in the intelligence of the United States voter, and be pissed at the laziness of the US liberals.

You are 11 correct? Now I am going to be a big jackass here and say that all you are doing is going along with what your parents said.

At least they don’t decapitate every politician’s signs because their favorite bands tell them that politics = bad, like they do down there :stuck_out_tongue:

I think she’s kidding.

Yeah, I wanted to vote for Bush when he ran against Clinton when I was little, 'cause my dad was a big Bush supporter. It’s pretty common.

I find it unbelievably stupid that even after the statement made on the MEDIA that there were no WMDs in Iraq, Neoconservatives are still claiming the war in Iraq was justified, and that’s one of their main arguments to get Bush re-elected. Another interest point about Bush’s campaigning is that many of his arguments seem to be “Vote against Kerry” as opposed to “Vote for Bush”. He’s been running around yelling that Kerry is a flip flopper and will cause us to lose against terrorists. What’s worse is that he’s actually GAINING SUPPORT by doing this. That alone lowers my faith in American intelligence.

Well, conversely, many Kerry supporters I’ve talked to are voting for Kerry really only because they don’t like Bush. It’s a vote for the lesser of two evils on both sides.

What a disgusting state of affairs American democracy has somehow, accidentally, I hope, churned up.

True.

I can vote this year, and I am voting Kerry. “He’s not Bush” isn’t my entire reasoning, though I’d be lying if I said that that wasn’t a part of it. :hahaha;

I just hope that some election-day hullabaloo extends for several months, annoying enough people to the extent that we get a serious reform movement going.

Oh, and that Kerry eventually wins, of course.

If Kerry doesn’t win, this country is in serious trouble. I know there has been “unsubstantiated” rumors of a draft if Bush is re-elected. Of course, he denies them fervently. Though it is an interesting coincidence that selective services budget was quadrupled in the last 2 years. Iraq: No WMDs, No ability to hurt America in any way, No connection to Al Queda, No connection to Bin Laden. Yeah Saddam was a bad guy, but this world has a lot of bad guys, and I dont want to throw away the lives of 1200 American soldiers, and 30k civilians for every “bad guy” that Bush suddenly decides he doesn’t like anymore. Cheney did not think Saddam was a bad guy in the 90s, when he was CEO of Haliburton and was doing huge trade with Saddam.

Its funny, with minimal effort I could write a thousand pages of facts and figures about how horrible Bush is, and it would make no difference at all. Some people are blindly loyal to anybody with an “R” next to their name, no matter how incredibly evil that person is. It really would be nice if Americans went out and got an education, of course with Bush slashing education funding every chance he gets, it is getting harder all the time. 42% of Americans still think Saddam was the mastermind behind Sept. 11…

Reasons to Vote for Bush: You make over 200k a year income. You are a homophobe. You are anti-fertility clinic. You believe Bush is the saviour.

Reasons to Vote for Kerry: You care about America’s future. You support medical research. You want children to be educated. You are tired of the rest of the world loathing us. You want to collect SS when you are old.

I’m not normally this direct about it, but I’m really getting disturbed at just how many Americans are totally ignorant about this country, and the world. Im not saying Bush supporters are stupid, I’m saying they’re either wealthy and dont give a damn about anyone but themselves, or are totally ignorant as to what has been happening both in America, and in the rest of the world over the last 4 years.

Badnarik/Campagna '04! I can’t stand either one so I’m just going for a third party canidate.

I agree, yet so completely disagree…

First of all, post count =1. If you are real, and not some campaigner just searching for boards to post your link on, welcome and hello and whatnot.

Since, to be honest, I doubt you are real, I’ll disagree with the shameless attempt to advertise for a candidate. If you, anger_dog, read this, then I must be wrong, and I’m sorry to insult you.

As for the third party candidates. I strongly agree with the concept of voting for someone that has a letter other than D or R next to thier name. US politics have become very icky in my opinion. We usually have two choices: either the guy who takes bribes from big businesses and special interest groups, or the guy who takes bribes from special interest groups and labor unions. (by bribes I mean accepts ‘donations’ and of course works for their interests when elected). I actually agree with Nader’s rants four years ago when he said that the Dems and Reps were two heads of the same beast.

Politics in general are leaning more and more conservative. Liberal is used as a swear word half the time, and the Dems are rushing as fast as they can towards the middle ground to attempt to fight the Reps, leaving true leftists so far removed from politics as they stand that my stomach turns. My personal beliefs land somewhere between South American Communism and Canadian Socialism, but I am forced to either vote for an animated corpse, in the hopes that I won’t have to suffer through anymore of Bush’s irresponsibility, or throw my vote away on a third party candidate.

So yeah, anger (pretending you are real), I am with you in that I don’t want Bush or Kerry in. Sadly in this election it is a decision about which will cause less damage:
1-allowing Bush to burn at least a dozen more bridges to a bright future, but in the process cast a vote that might help show the nation that we don’t have to pick between just two candidates
2-allowing the Democratic party to continue sliding closer and closer to the middle, thereby creating a delay in the shortsightedness, but ultimately bringing us back to the same situation in a future that is even less forgiving to leftist ideals.

I personally feel like I am getting the shaft either way.

On a similar note, has anyone heard any rumors about Republicans helping Nader’s campaign in the hope to ‘steal’ Kerry votes? I have only briefly heard this and am wondering if there is any validity. Please do not propagate this as a rumor unless you have more solid info than me saying this.

Libertarian? Bah, that’s worse than Republican. Where’s the Socialist party candidates?

I’ve got to fill out my absentee ballot and make sure it gets in before 5pm Friday, but I don’t what half the positions entail (e.g. Auditor General). :frowning:

Well, In many states, most notably Ohio and Florida, the RNC was funding petition drives to get Nader on the ballot. Ill try to find a link to the news story I read and edit it in here.

If I were old enough, I’d be voting Bush.

That’s poopy

Care to explain WHY, Lanyx? :stuck_out_tongue: In any event, I’m voting for Kerry, a) because I’m old enough, b) I’m a Liberal and I agree with everything that’s been said against Bush* so far, and c) because you don’t need to make up stuff in order to make fun of Bush. With Kerry, you kinda do. :3

*Footnote: Except the bit where “somewhere in Texas, a village is missing its idiot.” Knowing some of the stuff that USUALLY happens in Texas, Dubya’s a fricking GENIUS with a speech impediment compared to the rest of 'em.
