If you want a kick-ass computer that’ll last you 3 years no problem, wait until the next-gen 3D-Cards come out in about 5 months with 512 Megs of RAM.
And if you’re serious about not wanting to break your mother’s bank, then get a mid-range computer instead of your high-range computer. A mid-range computer will be nearly as good as a high-range computer, but will cost about $1500 as opposed to the $3500 computer you’re looking at now. The $2000 price decrease MORE than makes up for the slight drop in preformance.
