E3 2003

Figured I’d just start something to discuss E3 in general and all of the announcements. The one thing that I think is interesting is the PSP. Kutaragi said that it’ll be the “walkman of the 21’s century.” I think that, of anyone, Sony stands a chance of dethroning Gameboy. However, to play the devil’s advocate, Sega released Game Gear when Genesis was outselling SNES 2:1, and they still didn’t gain any ground on Gameboy. Regardless, I think the PSP should outsell the N-Gage by about a go-jillion.

Miyamoto making a Pac-Man game seems bizarre to me, too. Pac-Man has always been a favorite of mine, and I like Namco for just that reason (sorry, I’m not a huge fan of their fighting games). Seeing it in the hands of someone else whom I respect very much is just bizarro.

I’m also kinda pissed off that Nintendo Puzzle Collection may be coming out in America… considering that I just spent $60 to import it… >_<

Anyway, looks like it should be a good show so far. It’s definitely the time of year for us gamers who couldn’t make it to the show to be trolling the news sites.

I personally think that the PSP might do well, but not great. With the way they are describing it, the PSP will have entirely too many features to be cheap. If Sony can sell the thing for less than $100 I’ll be impressed. Not to mention they’ll need a lot of support 3rd party wise. Not saying they don’t now, but you never know.

Show looks good, and I’ll have a full review if my brother lends me his badge.

Super Mario Advance 4 looks bizarro… It’s supposed to be essentially just Super Mario Bros. 3, but… you pick up giant SMB2-esque Turnips to throw at SMW-era Chargin’ Chucks? And why is he flying with a cape instead of a tail in one shot? And since it’s Mario Advance 4 and not 3, will all of the coin patterns and such that are shaped like the number 3 be changed?

Confusion all round…

I dunno, it seemed nintendo went all weird with the remake of Mario games for the GBA, they’re peverting the past.
