E3 '010

It’ll be starting up on Monday.

And regardless as to how many games fail to interest me this year, I can at least look forward to all the showboating corporate shenanigans that will likely ensue.

I figured we could use a thread to discuss the ridiculousness of Wii’s Vitality Sensor (even though I still think it’s some sort of death clock), EA launching yet another line of games set to demean the very market they’re targeting, more people looking ridiculous in front of a Natal, or some other form of ridiculousness.

The 3DS is probably going to steal the show once we hear more about it. I’m curious to hear what the Move and Natal will have to offer, Natal in particular. I like what I’ve seen up to now with the SWTFU2 trailer (they know how to push my buttons :bowser:) and I’m curious to see how the Devil’s Third plays.

I’m also looking out for the 3DS, mostly because I’ve been wanting to go for a DSi-esque upgrade for awhile and had my eye on the XL, but if the 3DS will be backwards compatible with the DS and has access to the pre-established DSiware library then I might as well wait.

Especially since people who bought a DSi and upgraded to an XL couldn’t transfer any downloaded games to the new system, it’ safe to say the same would be true for anyone getting a 3DS.

Nintendo REALLY needs to get with the times and create accounts for this stuff. I don’t buy their ‘keeping it simple’ BS.

As for what else I’m looking out for, I wanna see what Capcom’s up to (ie: hoping in vein for a Mega Man Legends 3 announcement, haha), and I’ve gotten really interested in Xenoblade lately after seeing a bunch of gameplay videos (seriously, skip up to about 6:40 on that video and watch the jump) and hearing some of the soundtrack.

Some stuff on the new Zelda and more info on Metroid: Other M should be expected.

looks at the Xenoblade videos
WHOA! And THAT is going to be on the WII?? Can’t wait to play it!!

(Of course a great looking game doesn’t always equal a GOOD game -I’m looking at you, FF12!)

The music sounds good too!

Yeah, which is why I’m waiting to see more at E3, hopefully. There was an Iwata Asks segment about Xenoblade, and it seems encouraging but I still can’t gather much about how it plays yet.

But yeah, the scope of the world and the graphics seem pretty damn impressive for the Wii. Hopefully the game won’t wind up getting brushed aside by the new Zelda.

Isn’t Natal just an eyetoy? I thought sony already made those.

Xenoblade looks meh. Up to now, it looks like an endless mess of sidequests. Not interested until they put some meat onto the mini games.

The environments look awesome according to the trailers but most of the free-roaming could be taking place in the game’s equivalent of the Calm Lands or Pulse. But more importantly it doesn’t matter how vast and gorgeous your open fields are if there’s no reason to bother with them as per the biggest difference between DQVIII and FFXII. Plus the characters look bland as hell, and the fighting doesn’t look too inspiring either.

My E3 anticipation is greater for The [STRIKE]Final Fantasy[/STRIKE] Last Story than Xenoblade, and even that game is low on my list.

And speaking of E3 anticipation lists mine include (in no particular order)…
Zelda Wii (hoping its more like LA or MM than another rehash of LttP/OoT).
Fire Emblem DS 2 (Remake of FE3 Book 2 and I’ve been keeping my eyeballs peeled on this one since it was announced two weeks ago).
Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation Saga: The Lord of Elemental (hoping for news of localization though unlikely).
Dragon Quest X (hoping its still for Wii).
The Last Story (kind of).
Deathspank (Tales of Monkey Island like adventure? + action-RPG? = Win?).
3DS.

I’m looking forwards to Yahtzee’s annual E3 hype massacre.

Okay, for serious now, I’m hoping I’ll see something that actually catches my interest again. Apart from Rune Factory for the Wii, there hasn’t been a game I’ve actually looked forwards to for ages.

Hoping to see more of Dead Space 2, inFamous 2, Diablo 3, and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.

I’m hoping they announce Uncharted 3 with a trailer, but I doubt that’ll happen.

Its too early for both Diablo 3 and Uncharted 3. WAY too early.

The new Zelda title has been stated to feature an all new combat system that departs from the OoT style of gameplay. Also, according to sources, they plan to release it THIS year.

So, naturally, I’m guestimating how this will be changed and how many years they’ll push it back again. I’m guessing November of NEXT year.

Silly Nintendo. Shame on you. Now go feed Shiggy his crazy pills; he needs his energy to come up with Super Mario Galaxy Party Racing Dodgeball 3.

So I was browsing through Kotaku today and seen where Microsoft’s apparently got some rumors going around due to some European ad floating around. The first of which has them supposedly making a slimmer 360 with built-in Wi-Fi and possibly other goodies. The second is the supposed name change of Natal to Kinect (really?). However, it could be something else, so who knows.

I should get my gifs ready in preparation for major disappointment (or excitement!).

The new 360 is cute. The KINECT makes me want to cry. God this is awful. All the hopes I had for Natal just fell through the floor.

I’m looking forward to news on The Last Guardian (PS3) with a possible re-release of ICO/Shadows ala God of War 1&2 on the PS3.
Little Big Planet 2 might be interesting but I still have to beat the first one. Other than that, definitely Marvel vs Capcom 3!!!

Apart from stuff mentioned here, I’m curious about Fallout:New Vegas (I picture it as New Reno in Fallout 2 in larger scale) and I hope the rumours about the Metroid Prime guys making a Donkey Kong game are true. That’d be something.

Ha-ha! Pre-E3 2006 flashback: the “rechristening” of Revolution.

Welp. MS’s conference is now over. The only new reveal is that the redesigned 360 exists and is on its way to stores everywhere right now. Although if you were at the conference you get Oprah’d with one instead.

As for Kinect, outside of that Dance Dance Central game, everything else looked like knockoff Wii Sports/Play/Whatever games but with fewer options like having no brakes/acceleration outside of a boost in racing games and such.

Also CoD: Black Ops = On-Rails Helicopter Flight Simulator, MGS:Raiden = Tactical Watermelon Cutting Action, and Halo: Reach = SPARTANS IN SPAAAAAACE!!!

What’s up with the PS4 video? I’ve read it’s fake, but don’t know what the deal is and I need to get back to work if I want to go home anytime soon:

The PS4 video is fake. It was made by a group of students in Singapore. The PS3 cost Sony too much money. They still need time to recover from their investment.

On a positive note for MS, they secured an exclusive XBLA Castlevania.
