Oh boy, it’s been looking good for people waiting for some tasty stuff. Persona 2:IS, Mother 3, and it looks like somebody’s finally getting a patch done for DQIII for the SNES.
In case you’re wondering, everything is pretty much done, they’re just revising/testing everything out to make sure everything looks good. So hopefully, there should be a patch coming out here pretty soon. I’m especially happy about this! About time somebody went and finished this…
Wow, SNES DQ3, that takes me back. I’d love to finally play through this one. I tried before, but the unfinished translation bother me, especially when I’d open a chest later in the game and get a ‘wifdEsaG3’.
Keeping my fingers crossed for it.
(Now can we finally get someone on Goemon 2-4 on the SNES? The third one kinda counts as an action RPG. It would be about damn time.)
I’ve been following this translation on GameFAQs for a while now. It was going great until the last week when it just kind of halted. I really hope it picks up again.
The DQ3 remake is vastly superior to the DQ1/2 port. It more resembles DQ6 in terms of graphical, animation, and musical quality.
The GBC port of DQ3 was more or less a port of the SNES version, as I understand it. So if you played the GBC one it’ll feel a bit familiar, but it’ll look and sound a lot better.
Well, DQ3 was practically made with DQ6’s engine, so they look pretty similar.
I played the unfinished patch back in the day, but I didn’t get far due to not being able to understand the code gibberish and stuff. Also played the GBC version, but I got distracted and didn’t finish it. I have a nasty habit of putting off DQ games (played through most of 2 and quit after going through over half the game), so I’m actually pretty anxious to try it out when it finally gets released.
Yeah, I was able to finish the partial patch some 10 years ago or so (O_O), but it’ll be nice to play the game for real. I actually used the partial patch to get pictures for the original DQ3 shrine while I was still in high school some 8 or 9 years ago (O_O), and haven’t touched it since.
I’m so glad that it came out that I played through the whole game twice since then, once with a whole party and once solo.
However, I couldn’t save the game (it would delete when I reset the system), so I had to use the debug menu Game Genie code to set the flags for the stuff that requires resetting. (That is, the King’s Sword and the bonus dungeons.)
