Does a character being rare motivate you to use them more?

Yes I’m using SF mainly in this post.

In other words would you use Doll a lot because she only appears in on quest for example? For me it is partial. First I have to really like the member somewhat. I don’t care much for PKZW to be truthful, but I love Rei a little, okay a LOT. When I do like/love a character a lot, I will use them a lot regardless of how rare they are. Note how I use Tatyana in every quest of Romancing SaGa 3 that I can. The fact that Rei is my favorite and is only in Asellus’ quest makes me play Asellus’ quest even more. So I guess it is two questions.

  1. Does a character being rare make use them more?

  2. Does a character being rare as in only one quest or two make you play that quest a lot more.

For my case.

  1. Yes if I like the character.

  2. Definitely yes as seen how I play Asellus’ quest the most as it were.

  1. It depends- like in Emelia’s quest, I always, always use Asellus. Same with Zomza in both her and Asellus’s quest. I generally do end up using rare characters, for variety if anything.

  2. Mmm, not particularly. Lute’s quest is my favorite for some reason, and I’ve played it the most. He only gets Captain Hamilton for a rare character though she is quite good.

  1. It does depend…usually characters that you can get less often are better (Like Rei’s good with magic I think, which is why I use her. Zozma is just plain awesome, so I use him as much as possible).

  2. Eh, not really. My favorite quests are Emilia’s and T260’s, and…well, ok, I guess I do use characters that you can only get in some scenarios in them (Like, my Emilia group is Emilia, Annie, Liza, Zozma, and Asellus, and my T260 group is the all mec group, and most of those mecs are exclusive to T260’s scenario), but, I don’t use them for that reason. I use Zozma and Asellus because they’re really good, and I use the mecs in T260’s, because an all mec team is just the easiest to make strongest with minimal effort (I can beat T260’s scenario in under 3 hours :O)

When it comes down to it, for me, I just use characters that I like, even if they suck. In SaGa Frontier, it’s no big deal, because characters like Emilia and Liza, whom I like, just happen to be some of the better characters in the game. In Romancing SaGa 3, it really hurts me because characters like Robin just outlive their usefulness really early, but I like Robin a lot so I always keep him :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes and Yes. I get kinda sick of the same old character designs every time I go through a quest, and use the rare ones if for no other reason than a change of scenery. And if that requires me replaying certain quests more often, then so be it.

Not really. I have my favorites that I always get if I can - Silence and Rogue. Other than that its usually different.

Is it true in RS3 that no matter whom you pick it makes no difference in game? For instance if your Thomas one turn and than Sara the next it really doesn’t make a difference in quests and characters obtained. Someone told me this and I thought that sucked. Unlike Saga Frontier.

Well, the answer is yes and no. While the overall plot and game is for the most part the same, there are some little quirks for each character. Nothing major, but some things are worth replaying to see. For instance: Mikhail spends a lot of the game playing the Ruling Game and the War Game; Katerina can only be obtained in her own quest; Sarah… well, play through the game as someone else first and you’ll understand how Sarah’s game will be different.

^That doesn’t sound so bad. Their a bunch of Saga haters I tell you. Trying to persuade me not to play Saga games. I rather enjoy Saga games more than Final Fantasy’s for some reason.

I like a late aspect of Sarah’s quest. Hint: it happens very late.
