Developing Dissida Details

LockeJV: It’s much of a Kingdom Hearts-style combat. But the storymode functions to play on each character’s role in the story.

Thanks for the vid. It’s really helpful.

Btw lol at Butz’s Alt forms.

Shantotto vs. Jecht

Gabranth Vs. Exdeath: Basch-Mist attacks in 2nd one

Game opening

Someone mentioned in the comments section of the Tina Vs. Tina video, that all pre-FFVII characters should do their fist pumping victory dance. That would be great to see.

I somehow expect an sequel to the game due to how popular it is getting.

Maybe they can use these stories and characters.

*FF5 OVA: Prettz and Ra-Devil

  • A contination of the theme relationship between Bartz and Exdeath.
  • Prettz’s ExBurst is homeage to Bartz (four elements; but in “rasberry-bomb” form) and Sephiroth (katana)
  • Ra-Devil’s EX Mode is DeathGynos.

*FFX-2: Yuna and Shuyin

  • Hope vs. Grudge
  • Yuna’s EX Mode is homeage to Cecil and Onion Knight (Gunner/Summoner/Songtress)
  • Shuyin’s fighting style is identical to Tidus.

*FFXII-RW: Vaan and Feolthanos

  • Freedom vs. Enslavement (on many levels)
  • Vaan’s Ex-Mode is his FFTA2 Attire and using Anastasia, with his Ex-Burst being his Mist Charges.
  • Feolthanos’ Ex Mode is Judge of Wings

*FFU: Kaze and Makenshi (Both fight Chaos)

  • Two Conflicting Ways of Beating Chaos
  • Kaze’s EX-Mode is Magun
  • Makenshi’s Ex-Mode is homeage to Golbez (Dragon) and Cloud (Sword).
  • FFTA: Marche Radiuju and Queen Remedi
  • Reality vs. Delusion
  • Marche’s Ex-Burst is Combo
  • Queen Remedi’s Ex-Mode is LiGrimorie

*FFXII: Balthier and BaGamnan

  • Balthier’s Ex-Mode is using the Fomalhaut, with his Ex-Burst being his Mist Charges.

*FFCC Ring of Fates: Yuri and Galdes

  • Will vs. Fate
  • Galdes’ ExMode is his final-boss form.

  • FFT: Ramza Beoulve and Delita Hyral
  • Honesty vs. Deceit

But, to note, I do expect the likes of Cecil (Paladin version), Golbez, Cloud (AC-style), Sephiroth, Squall (Maybe in KH2-attire), and Tidus to return.

i dunno…
most fighting game sequels have the originals + extra characters
(eg smash bros - 16 -> 25 -> 36)
so they would most likely go with one of the old dissidia rumours that there would be an extra character from each game. that or the fact that by the time of a sequal there will be more games avaliable
(ie. wait 3or4 years and there’ll be 15 odd games (at a guess)) + the fact that ff13 could have 4 (2 for ff13 (lightning and whoever) and 2 for versus (noctis and stella?))

Oh HELL NO. I never want them to revisit LotC ever ever EVER ever. FFU is marginally better but I’d much rather they be left out.

If they do make a sequel, I’d prefer for them to keep to the main series (with perhaps a foray into FF Tactics) and simply expand the roster to include people like Gilgamesh, Edge, Locke, Tifa, Seifer, etc. If they can’t make it work into that stupid transformation business then throw it out. And I’d be quite happy to see pointless villains like Cloud of Darkness or Ultimecia get gone.

I agree that FFD will likely be a huge hit and spawn at least a sequel. However the whole point of having characters from every FF game in it is due to its being a FF anniversary celebration, which would not need to apply to sequels, so they would not have to include, say, Ramza or Marche. Like Cid, I think the least popular characters will be dropped (am I the only one who has trouble telling all the Armored Bad Guys apart?) and would prefer to see other cool characters from the already-involved games used. Like Edgar or Kimahri.
:ah-ha!:

Wilfredo Martinez: Actually, there is a Cid (FF1 Cid narrates the story). But the theme of Disiddia is a FF game’s main protagonist coming up against a “final boss” or a “villian with a LONG history with the hero(like Garland and Golbez).”

Um? As far as I know there is no FF1 Cid.

And yes, we know that’s the theme, and the theme makes a bloody annoying crossover fighter, considering the main point of the game is supposed to be fanservice. In the sequel they should toss that theme and concentrate on just having fun FF characters beat the bejeezus out of each other.

Cidolfas: Not physically in the game, Cid was added in the remake as a reference.

Actually, the story’s good. Even exploring the characters mindsets based on the their respective games such as Kefka being a psychopath bent on total destruction and Terra being originally afraid of her Esper powers.

Terra vs. Kefka (Subbed)

Dunno, since I haven’t played it (and I generlaly don’t watch spoiler stuff until I do). But even if they do have a good story, if they make a sequel, all I’m saying is they need to ditch the theme and start fresh, with the emphasis on characters that are popular and would actually make good fighters rather than constraining themselves to a particular theme and battle mechanic.

Cidolfas: Well, I think this would be the exception as the only real spoilage is the events relating to Cosmos and Chaos. Other than that, all the other characters are just reboot storylines altered to flow with the story.

Well, if they’re’s a sequel, the theme would be the same but the plot-line different (Maybe revolving around Zemus?). But I do expect that out of the original cast; Cecil, Cloud, Squall, Tidus, Golbez, and Sephiroth would return in the sequel.

I hope the theme is different, that’s all I’m saying. They can keep parts of the story and still not force themselves to be constrained by the same “1-hero, 1-villain” theme.

I don’t care what theme they use for #2 so long as they let you play as Gilgamesh, Beatrix, and someone from FFT preferably Wiegraf, Atima, or T.G. Cid.

well seeing as dissidia was made as a sort of anniversery game we probably wont see another dissidia for 5 more years. therefore by the time they do ‘dissidia 2’ there’ll possibly be about 15 or 16 (we hope) final fantasies.
which means about 30 characters if they follow the formula

killmore and cidofas - they probably will stay to 1 hero 1 villian formula but might change or add some ofter characters for popularity sake. (heres hoping for gilgamesh)

…Unless the game becomes SUCH a huge hit that Square says, “Hey, this crossover thing really works, let’s do more before the fad fades!” THEN we’ll likely get more Dissidias, anniversary or not. Besides, it’s just fun to guess who else they might use.

Yeah, the whole “anniversary” thing might just be a starting point. And knowing Square, they probably will stick to that formula more or less, but I sincerely hope they don’t.

Well I can’t comment on the gameplay or the story. But the music is quite awesome, though I’m a sucker for remixes of oldschool music.

I’m disappointed that Dancing Mad didn’t get a remix, and we get yet another version of One-Winged-Freakin-Angel (though it sounds identical to some other version I’ve probably heard). I think Square could’ve dropped the ‘Fierce Battle’ music from FF6 (Atma Weapon, Statues) and gave us a remix of the final part of Dancing Mad instead, but oh well.

The remix of Battle on the Big Bridge is pretty sweet. I like it better than the one in FFXII anyway.

There’s a few tracks that are the originals from the game, and not remixed at all. Mostly FFX-XII music is just taken straight from the original source. The FFIX Boss theme is another original track too, which I found odd. They remixed the overworld theme and standard battle theme in FFIX, but they didn’t remix the boss theme.

I’m a bit disappointed that they also didn’t remix the villain’s themes, like they essentially did for the heroes (rather they remixed the main overworld theme from each game, but that usually doubles as the hero’s theme in most games).

I’m not sure what to think of the final battle theme for Dissidia itself, I’m not too fond of the lyrics, but maybe it works better in-game.

If you’ll excuse my laziness, what songs did they pull from XI, if any?
