Every Twilight fan should go see this movie. I mean, it has an Edward and he finds a way to be his girl. And it’s got a really nice reverse-zombie-infection-type-of-thing sequence in the end.
It’s odd. I was disappointed, I thought it could have done what it tried to do so much better than it did. Ultimately pretty disappointed with the overall experience.
Ehh, I’m sick of vampires. What is it with the popularity of the undead these days? Vampires and zombies are everywhere, from movies to comics to novels. Sure, they’re ever-present, but they’re REALLY popular these days. And I still don’t find them interesting (though it depends on the character.)
My earnest reaction also may be because I’m a B-movie fan of sorts. I got that warm and fuzzy feeling with AvP2 as well, when they bothered to shoot for the R-rating instead of silly PG-13. The most creative use the the rating lately must’ve been in Die Hard 4.0, when McClane actually gets to hit a woman… after she kicks his ass. Painfully.
Mabatsekker: what kind of beer do you like?
Or, in what quantities? :mwahaha:
I like Hoegaarden and König Ludvig Weissbier. Of course, should I feel like it and having a lighter purse, plain old lager will do.
Hoegaarden Original White Ale? Their Grand Cru and Forbidden Fruit look very interesting, I will look for them next time I am at the beer store.
I’ve never had a Hefeweizen, sounds interesting: A south German style of wheat beer (weissbier) made with a typical ratio of 50:50, or even higher, wheat. A yeast that produces a unique phenolic flavors of banana and cloves with an often dry and tart edge, some spiciness, bubblegum or notes of apples. Little hop bitterness, and a moderate level of alcohol. The “Hefe” prefix means “with yeast”, hence the beers unfiltered and cloudy appearance. Poured into a traditional Weizen glass, the Hefeweizen can be one sexy looking beer.
Can you recommend any Finnish brews? I’m a big fan of stouts (Lost Abbey Serpent, Dogfish Head World Wide, Stone IRS, Founders, etc.) and Belgians (quads) - Trappistes Rochefort 10 is my favorite beer.
I really couldn’t name a proper stout from Finland, just the standard import pisslager. If I had to pick a favourite, here’s the order I would grab one from the fridge, given a chance: Sandels, Karhu (Bear), Lapin Kulta (Lapland’s Gold).
Some special cases do exist, like Koff Surfer (Has a citrus-like aftertaste) or Elovehnä from the Nokia Brewery (THE Finnish Wheat beer.)
Cool, I will look for those as well. Will probably hit the store on Saturday. If you know of any place that imports beer from Norway, Nøgne Ø makes some outstanding stuff. Dark Horizon is great.
Here “was” my Christmas stash:
Doesn’t look like Olvi, Lapin Kulta / Hartwall, or Nokia make it to the US. Nokia had to drain 100,000 bottles of beer a couple years ago? Wow, blasphemy!
Sinebrychoff Porter: My beer store carries this, and according to their inventory, it’s in stock. Looks delicious, I’ll be stopping on the way home from work!
I approve of the new direction of this thread. :toast:
Enjoyed a Hoegaarden Original White Ale on tap during the Penguins / Caps game on Sunday morning. Excellent! Along with that I had a couple Dogfish Head 60 minute IPS, and a stout that I can’t remember the name of.
I picked up a couple Sinebrychoff Porter’s, along with a Brooklyn Black Ops, and will probably have them later in the week.
I’m in Boston for work, last night had a Sam Adams Red Brick at Cheers - it’s only served on tap in Boston, pretty good for a light beer. Had their Noble spring offering and that’s a decent light beer as well.
Why did this go from Daybreakers to beer?
Beer is good, and apparently, Daybreakers isn’t. And yeah, Sinebrychoff Porter is pretty tasty too.
Cracked one of the Sinebrychoff Porters a few minutes ago. Excellent - roasted malt comes through big time in both the taste and smell - very dominating. I’m not sure how old the beer is, it’s dated “E8 1705”, whatever that means. Very smooth and drinkable for a 7.5% ABV beer. Good stuff!
For Shrove Tuesday, no mere beer will suffice, as it might freeze outside. The cure? Hot Cocoa and Mint Licquor! Makes any afterski, beforeski and duringski a slightly warmer experience than one without this magical combination. Of course, Mint Liq taken straight from the freezer is awesome too, but not quite for the occasion. (Sledding and glidering down the snowy slopes.) Yeah. Hot Mint Cocoa ftw.
