Computer Trouble

My computer has two problems. What do I do?

1: My power suppy keeps buzzing. It is a very loud and abnormal buzz

2: Windows Explorer keeps adding “Links” folder to my favorites. Its very annoying

Dunno about number 2 except I thought it was normal behaviour, and it all depends on which version windows you use, but for number 1, I would definitely either get it looked at asap/keep a CO2 fire extinguisher to one side at all times. :get it?:

1: Get a reserve Power Supply Unit, and have a fire extinguisher nearby.
2: Get Mozilla and Total Commander. Much better than that explorer crap. =)

Will upgrading the power supply require losing everything on the hard disk?

I laugh at you haha. My computer is 6 years old, whatever problems you have mine are eternally worse. Like how it randomly resets, it opens the CD Player while I’m typing…there is goes now. And it opens it for NO reason, no CD in the drive. I have a miniscule hard drive and my computer has been out of date since about a month after it came out of the box. And I can’t afford a new one.

My CD-R drive does that too.

What’s the processor speed Orian? I want to know if the computer I found on the side of a road is better :stuck_out_tongue:

1-Buy a new power supply. Its easy to insert.

2-Sites do that. Get firebird.

I HAVE NO IDEA :stuck_out_tongue:

Lets get back to topic:

Will changning the power supply reset all my settings and destory all my files and everything?

Of course not Mew, the power supply is just that, a power supply. Do you lose all your data when ever you turn it off? The answer is no of course (or at least I hope it is.)

Changing a power supply is very easy to do, you just need to turn off the PC, open the case, unscrew and disconnect the old power supply and put in a new one. But if you haven’t done your own computer work in the past and you don’t feel comfortable with it then you can always bring it to a technicien, they’ll have it fixed for you in a jiffy.

As for your IE problem, have you tried just deleting the links folder? IE is know for doing things it’s way, but it’s usually not that annoying, besides does having a folder named links in your favorites really annoy you that much?

Thanks

I dont use IE. I use Explorer to go through my files

Ori got a 1 GB HD, you have a 60 GB HD. There is a difference y’know…

Hard comparision. I have wrestled with my Dell Dimension quite a bit. It is highly sensitive and can be unstable

[li]Replace it. It is a fairly simple procedure, that anyone should be able to do.
[/li][li]It is a default folder that can’t be deleted, just leave it alone.

I got it.:hahaha;

My computer with all my music shit’s still fucked.

I’m going to run down by the local computer repair shop and see if they can just bill me later. I’m getting desperate…
