Chobits (GN)

I was reading Chobits before I came to London for College and have decided that it sucks…

I thought it was cute. Believed it had a decent enought story line.

It was all a lie…

When I found what is now one of my favorite anime stores in London I got to catch up on all of the GN’s I was behind on. In ways I wish I hadn’t. As was the case with Chobits, it was addorable and fun, then came the last GN where they told you everything you already knew from common sence.

I feel at a loss. I was collecting it if only for the pics and to say I had it… But now I can’t be bothered to buy the last two… They just don’t seem worth it.

YES! THERE IS ANOTHER!

Another what?

Person who read Chobits and thought the ending was a let-down, or person who is in London on the message board?

Another person who thought the chobits manga ending wasn’t that great. I thought the anime was worse though. I just found it annoying. I live in Warrington, anyway.

The pics and buildup were nice though, I think that’s what upset me the most about it… I was reading it and thinking “this is nice” Then they let out the big secret that we’ve known all along and try to make it seem so unexpected…

Those two govt. persocoms had such potential, then they just had them stand and do nothing… It would have been better if he died to save her or something. At least then we would have had the unexpected angst.

Or if Chii didn’t just go back to her old routine of welcoming Hideki with Hideki going to school again. You’d think they’d have Hideki pass the test and going off to the country with Chii or something.

But then that would mean there’s no room for a pathetic attempt at an anime soap opera later as a continuation of the story…

Not like anyone wants one…

I’d think quite a lot of people would want one. :stuck_out_tongue:

If they managed to fill in the wanted blanks… Chobits wouldn’t have been interesting at all if it wasn’t for the supporting cast. They add character and ‘drama’ without them there would have been no story. Or at least what was there would have been dull.

Got to love the prospect of Jerry Springer eps. in the form of friends. smiles

Love triangles and espionage.

why do you think that chobits sucks? Ok, so i haven’t read all of them, but from what I read, Chobits is a good book, and is definatly better then Di-Gi-Charat. If you think that’s an absolute INSANE thought, go ahead and tell me.

I never read the manga, but i did see the series, and I thoght it was great, but yeah, the ending was horribly rushed. All of a sudden those matrix looking persocoms appear, with no explaination of who they are, and you never really ever find out.

Could someone please describe both endings in detail? I’ve been thinking of trying Chobits, but I hate sad endings. Spoilers don’t bother me at all. (Spoiler-tag them if you feel it’s necessary.)

Rocks fall. Everyone dies.

Man, that would take too long. Besides, I never like giving away the ending if the person never saw it. If you really want, find a fan site that has episode synopses and read up on it.

ROCKS. FALL.

EVERYONE. DIES.

Dragon’s Revenge: Sheesh, I just wanted something like, “Chi and the guy end up together” or “she dies”. The idea was to decide IF I should bother to check a site about Chobits.

And Pierson, was is it with you and rocks? :hahaha;

Yeah, Chi, who was specially designed to think with free will and fall in love is supposed to fine “The One Just for Me”, and falls in love with Hideki.

There’s kinda more to it then that, but in the end, they do end up together. it’s kinda corny, falling in love with a computer, cos even though she has free thought, and is capable of human love and affection, she is still a computer. But dont think about that too much. In the end the only real problem is the rushed ending.

Sumomo, Shinbo’s mobile persocom is the backbone of the series anyway

Those 2 have a real “Bicentenial Man” dilemma, as in 1 person ages, the other stays cute cute cute forever.

Then there’s that issue about kids, ahem.

It’s a reference from Something Positive (can’t remember the exact comic) where one of the group gets annoyed at one of the others when they’re playing D&D, and ends the module by saying; “Fuck it. Rocks fall, everyone dies.”
