Calling all gamers! I need your input for a project

5,7,8,9, and sometimes 10. I guess my habit of beating up my friends with foam swords would also make me 4.

8, 9, 10.

I think that 1 through 4 are pretty nerdy, but I have a friend that does one of those (4 not as much though).

Exclusively 8 and 9, although 4-7 are on my to-do list. I couldn’t do Live RPing with a straight face, but smacking people with blunt objects sounds like fun. >D

I fall into 5, 8 and 9.

I play Magic: The Gathering, I like to play RPG’s but I like killing my friends in Halo 2 even more. And I play some PS2 and PC games online.

8 and 9, mostly, though I veer into 10 often. 5,6,7 I am intrested in, but can’t participate in due to lack of local intrest.

8, 9, 10

  1. I’m a fairly private person and would rather enjoy things like games, movies, and so on, alone.

Live Roleplaying is right up there with anime cosplay on my list of freaky shit. Seriously, these people kinda scare me. I can understand endulging in the fantasy of another person and being somethign you aren’t/can’t be in reality, but people become obsessed with the fantasy and that scares me, a lot.

5, 7 and 8, although I would like to get into pen and paper RPGs…

Mainly 8. Rarely 5 when I find a card game to become interested in.

Used to be 5, might get back into it, also once did 6, though I’m not as enthusiastic about getting in, and I am thoroughly 7, 8, and 9.

I’ve never actually done this before, but it’s more from a lack of knowing the people who would do it and being able to find a place and time when we could get a group together. I’m still trying to find a group around here.

I don’t think this is any different that the above.

Closest I’ve come is re-enacting the murder of Caeser, but - as stated before - the only thing stopping me from doing this is finding the people, time and place.

Nope.

Hell yea. Outside of the PC, this is my world. I play Magic almost constantly, although I’ve stopped playing “real” Magic a while ago due to lack of funds. I now play on-line for free and theorize a lot about the current game and decks and such. I’m still an avid player, but I don’t play competitively anymore. I’ll still go out to events; I usually go Friday nights to a tournament that’s held locally.

Have played, but haven’t found the people nor the money to do it. It really does seem fun, just really, really involved and costly.

I’ve done this both in real life and on-line. If the people are decent and the DM knows what he’s doing, then it can be one of the more enjoyable things to do. However, people have to be sociable and somewhat imaginative for it, which makes it harder to find good people.

Both console and PC, both single and multi-player. I’m all for playing Final Fantasy Tactics or Armored Core and going through the missions and game by myself, but I’m just as comfortable playing Super Smash Bros. Sometimes, the only reason I’ll play a game is for the multiplayer (such as Mortal Kombat, which I believe is only worthy for the multiplayer mode).

If you can avoid the masses of idiots who play, ignore all the swearing and insults flying around, and have a thick skin to ignore the insults aimed your way, I’ve found this to be extremely enjoyable. I prefer customizable games you play with other people (such as maps on StarCraft) over mission-oriented ones (such as Ghost Recon missions together), although I’m not saying co-operative is boring, but customizing is often more fun and interactive.

I don’t really play anymore because my family doesn’t really get together to play, but I still play these with friends and on-line. Board games were always my favorites, followed closely by card games.

Dunno if that’s what you wanted or not. And feel free to quote me.

1-4 - I’ll go on Iggy’s line here and say “Livers are extremely dangerous! Avoid!” =P Seriously though, they seem like an okay enough bunch, and lots of livers are girls! Cute girls! ^^ But, it’s just not my style of playing. =P

5 - Well, I’m not a big fan of the collectible huge MTG-ish games, I much prefer the smaller card games like “Spank the monkey”, “Citadels”, “Munchkin” and “Illuminati”.

6 - Actually I was kinda interested in this, then I hung out with a Table-top community that was all but nice… Didn’t really like the atmosphere, so I quit, and haven’t looked back since. Now, it just takes too much time to be worth it.

7 - Hey, I’m GM:ing in Eon (Swedish non-hacknslash fantasy RPG) for chrissake! And I hang out with people that play Rolemaster, the most complex P&P RPG ever invented! Of course I love it! Lately I’ve helped a guy to develop his own RPG system, too…

8 - Well, computer/videogames work, but I’ve actually drifted from it quite a bit. Even though I’m always up for a game of Quake or Liquid war.

9 - Online gaming is quite fun, although I haven’t been into it much. My 56k prevents me from doing more. >_<

10 - With the friends I got, and the board game locker at Proxxi, there’s never a dull moment. If you can survive the fights about what game to play that is.

So in effect, that’s 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

And Weii, if you want me to I can send you the email addy of a guy who has had long-time experience with all groups for over ten years. I think he could answer a couple of your questions…

8 and 9! VIDEOgames, please. And honestly… I think the people who dress up and do the “LIGHTNING BOLT, LIGHTNING BOLT, LIGHTNING BOLT!” kind of thing are just retarded. Yeah, yeah, I wish I could live in a fantasy world. I’d rather live there than here. But it’s not going to happen. I used to play TCGs (Magi-Nation fucking ROCKS), but the people that I played with stopped playing. Anyway, that’s my opinion. So… if you’re going to bitch at me for calling cosplayers or whatever you call them retards, I’m not going to argue.

I used to do five, but not now. I am almost always thinking about creating an rpg or inserting myself in one, so that may count as one. Other then that I only frequently do eight. My dad plays games and he thinks any other games are mindless. I play the other games and if they’re really good I like them, but my dad’s prejudice prevents me from playing them much. Good Luck, tell us if it goes well.

8, 9 and 10. I once dabbled in number 7, but that was a couple years ago. Out of 10, I like Trivial Pursuit, SORRY!, Clue and Scrabble the most.

1-4. I used to be a member of Amtgard, which is a Live action RP group.

  1. Used to do this all the time, but now I have no cards :frowning:

  2. Haven’t done this since I was 15, but Warhammer was cool when I did.

  3. Been doing this since I was ten, still want to again. Haven’t played D&D in almost 6 months.

  4. Both, both single and multiplayer. I prefer consoles, though. Computers sometimes are frustrating to troubleshoot.

9.Fun shit. Haven’t done it in years, though. I prefer FPS to MMORPG. But I should, since I have DSL. I’m kind of interested in doing StarCraft online sometime

  1. Only family game I play anymore is chess, either with my brother(who I’m still teaching), or online.

Overall, I am a nerd. Once I figure out exactly how to make events and Finish my maps, I should have my RM2K game done.

Edit: What does RPG Maker 2000 fall into on this list?

How bout a neverwinter nights module

1-4 I wouldn’t mind trying a couple of times. It’s fun to dress up and just pretend the rest of the world doesn’t exist only that world you and your friends created. But I don’t have anybody around that likes the same stuff I do. To kind of quote a comedian though, “You don’t know how far into the loser forest you must go to get to the Civil War reenacting people. You have to go beyond the pokemon card kids and right past Harry Potter himself before you get to the Civil war reenacting people.”

5 I’ve only played Magic once with my sister. I do collect some pokemon cards, mostly the first 150 because I thought some of them were cute. I’ve never played though. There’s a group of guys that hang out in the biology lab playing all sorts of card games and get really into it and argue over rules all the time. I don’t think I could be like that.

6 and 7) I’ve never done, but I think it’d be fun to do, but again there is no one around to do stuff like that with.

  1. I do this one a lot when I’m not grounded from games or trying to finish school work. I’m one of the ones who plays in a dark room all by myself. Every now and again I’ll play two player games against my cousins or my sister.

  2. I’ve never tried and don’t think I’d be able to try.

  3. I like to play these because my entire family can play them. Playing games are fun because we can find out how mean or conniving members of my family are. Mostly though I just like to play card games like speed, rummy, bull or egyptian agaist people at school. Pictionary and Pit are the board games I tend to play.

8,9 and 10. I like the graphics of computer games and I like playing against my friends in online battles. Some games, like Warcraft 3, have a story that goes along with the game and I enjoy playing through the campaigns to move the story along.

I like board games because of the interaction with people you don’t get with computer games.

8 and to a slightly lesser extent 9, here.
