Building a gaming quality comp?

Ok, so I’ve never really built a computer, so I need a little help here. I’m wanting to try to make one thats good for school (I plan to take some online courses), gaming, and media (music, video, flash, image, etc) editing. I also want to try and have a good amount of USB ports (my current computer has 7) as well as a CD/DVD burner. I can look for a case and hard drive on my own, but as for the rest of it… well, I’m a lost cause since I’ve mostly stuck to console gaming. Any help here?

Something like that? Avoid Windows Vista, use Windows XP.

Damn, thats a nice set up. Yeah, like that. Thanks a lot, Nul

Also, I plan on avoiding Vista as long as I can.

Now I just need a job.
