BOOYAKA!

The other day I went to a moving sale. and I got a load of old books. as i’m sure you are all well aware that I am a collector of vintage books. and I got all these books for 1 dollar! ONE! the guy just wanted to get rid of them. it woulda been cooler if they were all a complete set, but its still cool. I got alot of reading to do. I think I’ll start with Harvard Classics 41 and 42

Cool find. Speaking of books I was trying to find one of mine and of course didn’t find it, but found 3 other books I had been looking for a while back. GSMash!

What are the books in the bottom picture?

Secrets of the Kama Sutra Volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4!!

I love getting old books for cheap. Last summer the neighboring town had a book sale and I got 4 plastic bags full of books for 5 bucks. This year my school’s library was throwing away old books, and me being the pyscho I am, I couldn’t allow a bunch of books to be set ablaze, so I got like 3 boxes worth. I got first pick because I was a computer tech that worked in the media center.

Fucking kickass. Wish I could make finds like that.

oh baby i wish i had all these. “The Library Of Original Sources: Editors Edition” each book has about 8 or 9 Lithograph Plate illustrations. beauutiful pages, since the books are in such bad shape I was almost tempted to remove the lithograph plates and frame them. theres even one of my hero, Karl Marx. but I think i’ll leave the books how they are.

Nonsense! The Charlemagne I know doesn’t even know how to read.

Old books are teh roxx0r. Once a year, the local libraries here get together and have drives where people drop off magazines, videos, books, etc. and at the end there’s a HUGE sale to fund the libraries. And on the last couple days of the sale, you can get a paper bag and whatever you can stuff in the bag you keep for $2 bucks per bag. ^^

By reading, I meant CONSUMING. nothing better than aged books. dey taste so good on my pallett.

I love knowing that other people appreciate books like this.

I have a lot of books that I still need to donate to the library here. I sold what I could at the secondhand shops, but other than that I still have a lot.

Makes me wish I had more of an incentive/motivation to actually read stuff on my own volition.

I have the worlds largest collection of romance novels

My Aunt bought the secound Edtion of LoTR for $0.50 Then she gave it to me.

I just went camping and at the office they had a book exchange and I had no books but the let me have some any way, I got 5 ot 6 Anne Rice books because I haven’t read any of her stuff but heard she’s good.

You’re BMO, so I can’t tell if you were serious, but if you were, could you recommend a few really mushy ones?

I recently bough a brand spankin new LotR paperback boxed set for $35 Canadian. Yes, I buy new books with real sums of money. I was surprised they were so short. I have 1400 page books by James Clavell that are bigger than all of the LotR books combined, including the appendices. And they have smaller writing too. James Clavell is so awesome. Too bad he’s dead :frowning:

That’s cool Jcharlemagne.

Nice acquisition, JC. You never know what you can pick up. I got an almost-perfect hardback copy of ‘The Divine Comedy’ (published in 1962) for $5 at a library book sale, which rules since a brand new hardcover would normally cost around $50.

Oh. My. God. I love you charlie. Those books made me orgasm.

:kissy:

well theres alot more orgasms where that came from. if you stick with me.

gasps

Charl made an intelligent thread?! Duck and cover!!

I tend to stay away from books not written in modern English. I know Perc would kill me for saying that, but I can’t really get into books when almost every other word is “thus”, “thee”, and “thou”.
