That is scary shit.
I don’t have any idea what to do about rapists, but I’m wholeheartedly behind the concept that women should work not to be easy prey for them. The torture devices don’t do anything to stop a rape from happening - sure, they end up maiming the rapist, but he still had to get in there, and that’s what we don’t want. The possibility of some anti-rape device concealed away isn’t enough to deter a rapist. You’re totally right about self-aware, “educated,” resolved women carrying themselves differently; criminals who are not utterly deranged will always go after easier targets. I feel like I have to do that regardless just to be taken seriously.
and Eden, you are so evil!
and Sin, best.post.ever.
I could find no other way to express my horror. Words fail me.
Thank you Vicky. I thought people were skipping my post, going “Oh, Kraken’s ranting again.”
I’m all for maiming rapists, but I’m more in the rip-off-ears, crush-windpipes camp. If you’re being raped, it’s combat; go for the killshot, immediately and without mercy or hesitation.
Anyway, we don’t have to know what to “do” about rape as a phenomenon in order to make as many women as possible safe.
All this stuff applies to muggings, too, but there’s more legal stuff to hash out with that than with rape.
I kinda ignored the fact that dedication is a powerful thing regardless. I’ve only recently become aware of how much that counts for; being sorta young, I was biased toward technique and knowledge rather than force of will.
