Another Patent, another lawsuit...

Twelve mayor game companies sued for using 3D Engines in their games
GameDAILY BIZ received word recently that Texas-based law firm McKool Smith has sued 12 major game publishers and is threatening legal action against several smaller companies as well. Electronic Arts, Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft, Activision, Atari, THQ, Vivendi Universal Games, Sega, Square Enix, Tecmo, LucasArts, and Namco Hometek are all named as defendants in the case.
It’s so refreshing to know that this is all we have to look forward to while the current patent system allows software patents. ::doh::

McKool Smith is financing their major litigation against the 12 publishers by threatening smaller companies and then getting them to settle.

thats kinda messed up imo

eyeroll

This reminds me of the Saul Zaentz-Fogerty lawsuit where John Fogerty was sued…because the tune of one song by Fogerty that he no longer owned the rights to was similar to a newer song released by Fogerty. So in short, he was sued because he sounded too much like himself.

facepalm And speaking of lawsuits, it’s about time for Indecision 2k4’s week long litigation period where Ohio replaces Florida in the clone of 2000.

And this gaming lawsuit is just ridiculous.

But seriously, Ohio is having an issue with Provisional Ballots and absentee ballots similar to what’s happening in Florida. And many of those are in Cuyahoga County(Cleveland area), which is heavily Democratic. And G-Dub was in various places in Ohio earlier today. I smell something…and I think this is a similar scenario involving fraud. Bush is buddy buddy with a lot of Conservative Ohio Politicians(Including Gov. Bob Taft, the representative of my former district in my hometown of Findlay, Mike Oxley, and others). There’s also 20 electorals involved.
The pieces seem to be in motion. But it’s debatable what’s going to go down. And there are also other states having problems as well.

QUICK! EVERYONE GO BACK TO 2D BEFORE THEY NOTICE OUR POLYGONS!

Go McKool Smith, bring on the Return to 2D! Wooh!

That’s it, we need a communist revolution and FAST. Of course, if the law firm wins its case, it’s likely to happen anyway.
