another movie recommendation

I didn’t get to see X2 last night (it was sold out at TWO theatres I went to), but I did see this movie instead, and it’s frikkin’ awesome. It’s called Identity, starring John Cusack, Ray Liotta, Amanda Peet, and an extremely solid supporting cast.

Anyway, I don’t want to give it away because the joy of this movie is the twist(s) it takes, but here’s the briefest of plot outlines. About ten people find themselves stranded at a Nevada motel during a huge rainstorm. And well, as the night progresses, people start dying. The people there then begin to realize that they are a lot more closely related then they at first thought, they aren’t complete strangers after all. This main plot is counterposed by this other one about a psychiatrist and some lawyers reviewing the case of a man who is about to be lethally injected over multiple homicides so many years ago.

Here’s a sparkling review of it: http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/394/394739p1.html

I really recommend if you can spare a trip to the movies to go see this. It’s creepy, puzzling, and very multi-faceted. A lot of psychological references and also references to the author Sartre as well.

This movie just looked weird to me, but I did look interesting, so I’ll give it a shot.

it’s awesome Sorc. Trust me.

That movie actually looked really good to me. I plan on seeing it some time soon.

As Sin and I were waiting in line for x2 to start, we saw a whole bunch of people come out of Identity… most of them were very old. ^^; But there’re alot of movies that I’d like to see… but $9.50 to get in? I’ll wait for the rental. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, that did seem kinda interesting. And John Cusack’s presence is an almost automatic Seal of Approval for me.

he has a great performance as the lead man, he’s really cool and complicated. Actually, while watching the movie I thought of a few parallels between me and Cusack and Sin and Liotta. There’s this one almost hilarious scene when all the characters lock themselves together in one of the hotel rooms and Liotta, who has a gun, starts waving it around and starts shouting,

“If that guy [someone they have tied up in the next room] does anything funny, I’m gonna shoot him! And if anyone comes in through that door, I’m gonna shoot it too! And if any of you do anything I don’t like, I’m gonna shoot you!!!”

If you go before a certain time you should be able to get tickets at about $6-7 each.

Its always cheaper on Tuesday =P

It’s pretty awsome, but a little predictable.

I think before 6 is the matinee price. (It might be before 5) But… it’s pretty hard to go see a movie at that time, considering school, work, etc.

I haven’t seen Identity, but I did hear about the plot (including spoilerific things) from a coworker. I don’t like watching movies involving gory losses of life, and I wanted to know what happened, so I asked. The plot sounds super, and I don’t think people would be very disappointed (if at all). Of course, John Cusack is great regardless.

I think I’d rent Identity first before buying it. I’m not much on John Cusack (sp?)

I always thought John Cusack was horribly overrated before, but he is pretty good, he redeemed himself in my eyes ten times over in Identity.

It sounds interesting, but I don’t go to the movies much, especially since tickets here are costly and so is the food -_-

yeah I tend not to buy anything anymore at the theatres, sometimes a soda but not much usually.

Wow, Atral, do you go to five diamond movie theatre? It only costs $5.50 where I live and tha’s only for the new movies. The older ones are only $5.

the higher end areas of the country (cost of living-wise) such as California have been getting skyrocketing ticket prices for movie theatres over the last few years.
