And thus, the Monopoly became fact...

Meh, Netscape sucked royally anyways…it crashes more often than IE does. =P

And you don’t think that MS had anything to do with that? MS even admitted (I read in a PC World magazine) that it made Netscape buggy on Windows. If you’ve used Netscape on Linux and then on Windows you’d notice the performance difference. There were browser wars about 7 or 8 years ago. Around IE3 and Netscape 3, Netscape was infinitely more capable. IE just had browsing, but Netscape had other features such as uploading stuff online. Now I’m not saying that Netscape is the browser to end all, but it isn’t bad. Yes, I generally use IE (partly for the stability because of it being such a strong part of Windows). However, when I’m on Linux, I generally use Netscape or Konqueor (a Linux browser that is somewhat like a IE/Netscape hybrid). I’ve also used Netscape on Apple and it runs pretty well.

I couldn’t care less about what browser I’m using: As long as it serves my purpose. I use all from Internet Explorer, through Opera, to Galeon and Lynx.

If I recall correctly Opera Software has fixed the compability problems pre-7.0 versions of their browser suffered, in fact, I think they’ve added more compatiablity than Internet Explorer has at present.

Best part about Opera is if you get into a 10,000 porno pop-up ads problem, you just need to hit ‘X’ once.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> That’s why I use <a href=“http://www.flashpeak.com/sbrowser/sbrowser.htm”>Slimbrowser</a>. It has all those neat things from Opera that you love, but it doesn’t fork up with websites whose code isn’t 100% perfectly W3C legit or whatever.

Ah yes… And you also get a rendering engine that’s about 18 months old if you do that solution… Plus lack of support for all newer standards. The things IE is lacking, that you can’t get no matter how fancy a user interface, include but is not limited to things such as native PNG support (Other browsers had it since 1999-2000 sometime, why not IE?) and advanced CSS v2 support (check css/edge for a few good examples that basicly works in latest version of anything but IE).

Granted, it’s not really important stuff, but in five years time cross browser coding could become really really simple.

And BTW, it’s been a loooooooooooooooong time since I ran into a website that refused to work with Opera… And if it did, it was usually because of a lousy “This page only works with IE, access denied” Javascript, which a simple browser netmasking solved.

I agree with Steve - Opera 7.11 owns the crap outta everything else, hands down, and I prefer having a cutting-edge browser to an outdated one…

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> But I honestly don’t give a crap about any of that. I might download Opera again anyway, but Slimbrowser basically does the only things I would get Opera for, so I don’t really care.

I honestly doubt SlimBrowser has Mouse gestures and the extremely great “Notes” function. Ok, maybe MGs, but definitely not Notes.

With Notes, Opera is the best research browser out there, no doubt about it. It’s like… Well, imagine notepad with an organizer that keeps track on exactly which notes you’ve taken from what pages. I can’t even begin to describe how extremely helpful this is, and how much it speeds up your research… Just select the text, copy to notes, voila. It’s a whole lot more to it than that, but that’s the basics of it.

And as for web development, Opera owns the crapzorz outta everything else with it’s advanced user stylesheets. You can finally see how your page would look like (or atleast get some hint of it) for a blind person, or how your webpage will be viewed when you look at it in a PDA, or other stuff. Great for debugging a page, even greater when you want to have accessible pages (and you want Accessibility - Not only is it the Right Thing™ to do, it’s even stated in the US law that your webpage must be accessible).

The only problem is you have to pay for Opera to get Notes and the stylesheets, so I haven’t had a chance to test them functions properly yet… But for the first time, I’ll actually buy a browser, precisely for these features, not because I have to, but because I think it’s worth it. Laugh at me all you want, but fact remains: Opera is the best browser out there, hands down.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> I’m guessing black. Very black.

Actually, I wonder that too. Do blind people actually see black?

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> I’m not sure.

I’m pretty sure they see black; since black is the absence of light and seeing is seeing light.
Now. What does this have to do with browsers?

Don’t you worry about that. 8P
No matter how often I read your post, I still don’t get what’s so great about those “notes”. I prefer to do my notes irl, because my dear compy crashes regularly for several hours. I’m with TD on that one and stay with Crazy Browser/ SlimBrowser, thank you, goodnight.

Yes but do IRL notes have a search function? Can you easily catalouge them? Etc etc etc.

I’m a lazy person, but I’m also a constructive person. I always try to find ways to make my surfing/posting/whatever cost less, both in time and money. There is nothing in the notes function that you cannot do in another way, but it’s so much smoother than to take notes IRL. It’s like the difference between… Walking and taking the car I guess. You get where you’re headed both ways, but one takes much more time and effort than the other especially if we’re talking longer distances (1 km or greater).

How do you get those notes to work anyway?

Mark something, right-click, copy to note. Press F4 to view. Extremely helpful organiser.
