Since I wrote about my Co-op in the classes thread I was reminded of this amusing little story that happened last week. Everything in this story is true and not exaggerated in any way:
Kelly, one of people who work in the computer lab wanted to play a prank on Eric, the lab administrator and my co-op boss. She put a note on his desk saying something to the tune of one of the work study girl’s boy friend was having problems with his hardware and it listed the girl’s number.
Now, Eric is really smart but sometimes oblivious. He picks up the phone with Kelly, Andy (another lab worker), and I in the room. He gets the girl’s answering machine and leaves the following message:
“Hi, (put the girl’s name here). I calling in regards to your boyfriend’s hardware. Call Academic Computing when you get a chance.”
Needless to say the three of us burst out laughing. We must have laughed for at least five minutes straight. Eric’s face was beet red. It was even funnier to us because we knew he was getting married in a couple of weeks and this would be an amusing story to tell his fiance. He called the girl back and politely asked her “to disregard my last message.”
Now, I know some you may not find this as funny as I did and I know I’m a poor story teller, but I hope this little anecdote has brightened your day in any possible way.
Heh. That was reasonably good.
