A new HHGTTG book? How did I miss this?

Eoin Colfer of “Artemis Fowl” is writing a sixth book in the series. It was announced almost half a year ago, yet I never heard about it. 8-(

Oh wow. This fell under my radar too, thanks for the info.

Definitely going to check this out when it’s finished.

I really need to read that book sometime.

I predict this to go about as well as trying to win the world series of poker going all in before the flop on every hand.

Chip and a chair, Arac.

On an unrelated note, I hate poker and rarely play it, but I’ve cleared tables doing this before.

Me too. I’m not giving up all hope.

I completely missed this too… could well be interesting.

No expectations here. Besides, the first three books differed from the fourth that differed from the fifth. I have a mild curiosity what style will the new writer try, but HHGTTG=Adams etc.

Considering the last HHGTTG book ended with a big middle finger, I don’t see how anything could possibly continue (what with the universe being completely destroyed and all).

It’s been awhile since I read it, but I don’t think that’s how it went. It wasn’t the entire Universe, just Earth (again) that got destroyed, wasn’t it? Granted the difference here was that Arthur, Ford, and Trillian were all on Earth at the time. So having them get around THAT little obstacle is what I’m more concerned about.

Infinite improbability?
Restaurant At the End of the Universe?

Everybody reincarnates aware of past lives, like the guy Arthur Dent has to kill before he dies.

Wow. I feel lame. I just realized what this thread was about. I’m going to sit in a corner with Melvin now. :frowning:

You mean Marvin? 8p

Or do you mean The Melvins?

I loved the first 3 books of the series… it seemed to lose a bit of its charm in the fourth and fifth books but it was still a good read.

The fourth one was totally different in tone, and honestly was scarcely even a part of the series, but I still really liked it. The fifth one suffered from a bit of creator breakdown, although Adams was en route to fixing it, when he died, in theory.

It is so beyond wrong for someone else to add do this series. I love this series, I love Dirk Gently’s, I even love reading about Thor in The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul.
No one will be able to create the lovely rambling, seemingly random style of this beloved author.

I also dig Teatime. Verily.
