That’ll teach a cell phone company to pretend it can make a gaming system.
Folks, leave the goddamn N-Gage alone. Has anyone here actually TRIED it? Or did you all just say, “It sucks automatically because it isn’t Nintendo that’s fucking it up?” I may not have one, but I’d like to try one out before saying that it sucks more than anything else?
Yes I have tried it. It’s clunky and it has no good games. Only poorly done remakes.
Go ahead and give it a try if you want. 8)
It’s probably a pretty capable little system there. Surely a valiant effort on Nokia’s part, but look at the games for it… Tomb Raider and Tony Hawk. As if we weren’t surrounded by enough Tony Hawk games as it is…
What Nokia should do is sign Square Enix up to do cell-phone ports of the SNES FF games and DQ games. The phone is 32-bit, so it’s a possibility! Imagine, of all things… playing Final Fantasy V on the bus on the way to school.
That actually sounds like a good idea. But it would more than likely happen with their old ‘friends’ Nitendo, on the GBA.
And I don’t really want to try the N-Gage, I mean it sounds like a good idea, but I’m just not into it. Especially since I just got a GBA SP.
And Nintendo does have a record of f***ing things up. Remember Virtual Boy? 64DD? The Phillips CD-I? Selling Link to the CD-I? Selling Mario to Mindscape? Turning down CD-based software? Releasing a Pokemon TV show? Censoring all of their games so that a character would “swoon” rather than die?
Not to mention drinking “soda” in the middle ages… ><
Not to get off topic, but when/if the Tales of Phantasia port hits the states, I damn well better be seeing talk about what the girls are like in bed and Arche’s erotic dreams, or SOMEONE is gonna die!
“No console is better than the games to it.”
Wonder when people will learn?
I’ve tried it. It’s absolute crap. Not only is it poorly designed(have to remove battery to change games, but thats almost forgivable since the games are about the size of my thumbnail) but half the launch titles are missing music or all their sound. Also I’ve heard that some of the games tell you to “Press Start” when there is no start button on the console. All in all I’d give this console an extremely generous 2/10 just do to the fact that if i see someone playing one, they make a pretty good blunt object.

Yes i did, and it really does suck that bad.
It has some pretty good graphics, but how many Tomb raider fans are there left? And why would you want to play another Tony Hawk game?
300 bucks is also a little to much, even if it does play MP3s/is a phone, for the casual gamer.
ive known the n-gage sucked since i first heard of it and my brother was talling me “oh man its gonna be so cool”, etc. my reasons? it was touting a remake of tomb raider on a screen literally the size of a postage stamp. even “casual” (read: xbox) gamers who are no doubt the target demographic are sophisicated enough to know that this was bullshit from the beginning.
i need a new word for the xbox gamers who did buy n-gage, though.
It is a good idea, but it is badly executed.
I’ve seen it, it’s little less than a fancy average cellphone with lots of games. The worst part is the impractible design, someone needs to be re-educated.
I’m not gonna THINK about buying one until they release a game that interests me.
Here’s a good question. Who in the right mind would use that thing as a phone in public? It’s like holding a plastic taco up to your ear.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.
If I want a cellphone, I think I’ll do something crazy, like, oh, I dunno, maybe…BUY A FREAKING CELLPHONE!
